OCP is able to produce more than 5 million tons of phosphate fertilizer annually and expects a further increase by the end of 2025.
OCP Nutricrops, a subsidiary of the Office Chérifien des Phosphates (OCP) Group, has surpassed 5 million tons of triple superphosphate fertilizer production capacity, thanks to the strategic program "TSP Hub," launched at the Jorf Lasfar industrial platform.
An OCP Nutricrops statement stated that with the commissioning of the first two lines, each with an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons, OCP Nutricrops' current triple superphosphate production exceeds 5 million tons.
This concentrated phosphate fertilizer contains more than 90 percent of the phosphorus immediately available to plants, making it particularly suitable for nutrient-deficient soils and for rational fertilization strategies based on the 4R principles (right source, right amount, right time, right place).
The TSP Hub strategic program, supported by the SBU Manufacturing unit in collaboration with OCP Nutricrops, OFAS, and JESA, is transforming existing capacities and laying the foundations for the production of precision fertilizers tailored to current agricultural requirements. It relies on flexible industrial technologies and processes that enable optimal integration of nutrients and additives, helping to meet farmers' specific soil and crop needs.
According to the statement, this technology provides industrial flexibility and rapid production of new, customized formulations. This strategic program combines capacity building and operational flexibility and responds to the challenges of modern, precision, and customized agriculture by producing fertilizers tailored to the diverse and growing needs of markets.
To take this to a new level, an ambitious program is currently underway to adapt nitrogen fertilizer production units. This important project aims to integrate new equipment and modify existing facilities to enable them to also produce triple superphosphate fertilizer.
The increase in production capacity will enable OCP Nutricrops to reach an annual production capacity of more than 7 million tons of triple superphosphate fertilizer by the end of 2025, thus enhancing the efficiency of its industrial assets to effectively meet the growing demand for phosphate fertilizers.
In this context, OCP Nutricrops CEO, Youssef El Bari, said, "The TSP Hub strategic program represents an important step in our phosphate fertilizer production strategy. It enhances our ability to provide high-value agricultural fertilizers, specifically designed to meet the needs of soils and farmers worldwide, while strengthening our efficiency, performance, and industrial capabilities."
For his part, Ahmed Mahro, General Manager of the Strategic Business Unit for Manufacturing at the OCP Group, emphasized that the TSP Hub represents an industrial transformation implemented by the SBU Manufacturing unit to address the challenges of fertilizers identified in the context of diverse agricultural needs.
He pointed out that it represents "the emergence of an industrial model that combines efficiency and innovation with a customer-centric focus, where the production tool becomes a strategic lever." Thanks to its new structure, the SBU Manufacturing unit has developed a range of customized products tailored to various needs. He emphasized that through this dynamic, the manufacturing unit affirms its desire to harness industrial performance linked to flexibility and adaptability to create sustainable value.
The launch of the TSP Hub program is based on strengthening governance by creating a team of shared structures at startup, as well as coordination with more than 1,200 participants representing all site professions.
On the environmental front, the TSP Hub relies entirely on the use of non-conventional water as part of the overall strategy of the OCP Group.
OCP Nutricrops is a subsidiary of the group responsible for developing plant nutrition solutions to address global challenges in food production and sustainability.
SBU Manufacturing is responsible for ensuring the operation and exploitation of the OCP Group's processing plants in Jorf Lasfar and Safi. It aims to consolidate the group's position as a global leader in the industry by relying on operational excellence at all levels.
